Adiantum raddianum

Adiantum Raddianum

Adiantum raddianum fern is commonly know as the Maidenhair fern. It is native to tropical environments. The leaves are brightly yellowish green. It will add depth in your own ecosystem. It prefers to be kept warm and never want to experience cold winter. Important note to remember is try not to touch the leaves while planting. The soft leaves are sensitive oil. Our human oil can grow the leaves. Maintenance is easy, simply cut away any browning branches.

Origin: Tropical Americas, West Indies

Family: Pteridaceae

Mature Size: Height: 1 to 2 feet and Spread: 1 to 2 feet

Light: Partial shade. No direct sunlight, it will bleach the leaves and burn the plants. This plant is perfectly suited for vivariums.

Planting: Adiantum raddianum fern should be watered regularly as they don’t like to be dry. These branches are very light in weight. As the plant grows, the branches will cascade itself toward the ground. It makes a perfect backdrop for the back of your vivarium.

Water: Keep soil well drained. Always keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy. The roots must never be allowed to dry out.

Temperature: They need high humidity and warm temperatures. They do well in a terrarium at 70 to 80F: 20 to 28C

Propagation: Maidenhair ferns is done in one of two ways. It can be down either by division and through spores. To divide the plants, simply pull the plants apart from the base with roots attach.
