Anoectochilus Chapaensis

This jewel orchid is beautiful! Native to China and Northern Vietnam this jewel orchid is grown for its beauty. Characteristics like gold veins, burgundy highlights, and deep green foliage; will really bring your vivarium to life. Anoectochilus Chapaensis blooms vivid yellow rosette flowers once a year late winter early spring. The wide- set leaves on this orchid will provide good shelter and a place for your frogs to lay their eggs. Be sure to grow in medium to low light. Plant in sphagnum moss or potting soil and keep the medium slightly moist. This plant will grow easily and strongly in your vivarium.

Origin: China and Northern Vietnam

Mature size: Tall - can grow up to 12 inches

Light: Partial sun. 

Planting: Jewel Orchids should be watered regularly as they don’t like to be dry. An important thing to remember is that don’t like standing water either so wait until the soil begins to dry out before watering again. Don’t over-water your Jewel Orchids as dry Jewel Orchids are easier to protect than those damaged by damp conditions.

Water: Keep soil well drained. Always keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy. 

Temperature: They need high humidity and warm temperatures. They do well in a terrarium at 70 to 80F: 20 to 28C 

Propagation: Remove new plant from mother plant and replant into moist soil. You will be able to get it to root by placing it in water. Plant will establish and grow roots in a short time.
