Maxillaria Tenuifolia

Maxillaria Tenuifolia

The Maxillaria Tenuifolia is also known as the Coconut Pie Orchid. It is called this because it gives off a coconut fragrance. It produces a red flower with yellow to brown spots. Terrestrial orchids are easy-to-grow plants with distinctive leaves and flowers. Plant it in your vivarium to create a natural environment for your dart frogs.

Origin: Mexico, Nicaragua.

Mature size: 24 to 36” tall.

Light: Partial shade. No direct sunlight.

Planting: Orchids should be watered regularly as they don’t like to be dry. An important thing to remember is that they don’t like standing water either, so it is best to wait until the soil begins to dry out before watering again. Don’t over-water your orchid as dry orchids are easier to protect than those damaged by damp conditions.

Water: Keep soil well drained while keeping the soil slightly moist but never soggy.

Temperature: They do well in the terrarium at 70 to 80F: 20 to28C with high humidity and warm temperatures.

Propagation: Remove new plant from mother plant and replant into moist soil. You will be able to get it to root by placing it in water. The plant will establish and grow roots in a short time.

NOTE:THIS PLANT WILL BE SHIPPED BARE ROOT (Without soil or pots). Images shown are only a representation of the the species not the actual plant. All orchids come mounted on cork bark with peat moss.
