Plumosus Nanus Asparagus

Plumosus Nanus Asparagus

Asparagus Fern is not a true fern, but a member of the lily family (Liliaceae).

Long, arching stems densely covered with short, needle-like leaflets give this plant a delicate appearance. It has a cascading habit that makes it ideal for a hanging basket.

Mature plants will bloom in summer with small, white-to-pale pink flowers, sometimes followed by clusters of green berries that turn red in the winter. These berries are poisonous if eaten

Asparagus Fern is an easy plant to grow, much easier that most true Ferns, because it will adapt to wide variations in light, heat and frequency of watering. It does not demand a humid atmosphere and can be easily propagated. This plant will thrive very well in your home ecosystem and your dart frogs will love you for it.

Mature size: Height: 2 to 3 feet and Spread: 2 to 3 feet

Light: Can adapt to bright or semi-shady conditions. Keep away from direct sunlight.

Planting: Should be watered regularly. Do not let it dry out between water. It makes a perfect backdrop for the back of your vivarium.

Water: Keep soil well drained. Always keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy. The roots must never be allowed to dry out.

Temperature: Average 70°F -minimum 50°F.

Propagation: Divide plants at any time of the year.  Sow seeds in spring
